Mia McElhatton is a rising Senior at Central High School in Philadelphia, PA. This summer she was the community organizer intern with the Women’s Community Revitalization Project, a non profit that helps provide deeply affordable housing for women of color in Philadelphia. Mia is Central’s mock trial team captain, a writer for her school paper, and assistant editor for the Bullhorn, a city wide school district paper. Mia also works as a hostess at a neighborhood restaurant in Philadelphia. She also participates in the music program at her school as a member of the choirs. Mia is a University of Pennsylvania young scholar and is passionate about increasing equity and equality through government, law, social science research, and nonprofits efforts. She is excited to work as a part of UrbEd on future projects to make Philly schools more equitable.
