UrbEd, Inc. is a student-led, student-run organization that advocates for quality and efficient education in urban school systems. I am reaching out to invite you, and anyone you know, to join UrbEd’s Fellowship! The Fellow Program is a year-long fellowship for high school students interested in becoming more involved in education policy and activism. Fellows will meet throughout the month with communication and work in between meetings. At meetings, students will have the opportunity to learn from professionals across the field of education to increase their knowledge and understanding of the systems in power. The fellowship will begin in September of 2023 and last the entirety of the school year, until June 2024. All students will be compensated for their participation!

Fellows are expected to…

  • Attend bi-weekly meetings and (Free) field trips across the city (Transportation Provided)
  • Complete weekly assignments enriching their understanding of Philly organizing (i.e. Plan your ideal city, review a policy, power mapping…) 
  • Complete a service project between January-June with the support of the UrbEd, Inc. team. 
  • Dedicate no more than 5 hours weekly

Fellows receive…

  • A stipend of $500, paid in three installments throughout the year.
  • Full access to UrbEd, Inc.'s Work Space located in Center City Philadelphia at 1521 Locust St.!
  • Transportation costs covered if need demonstrated
  • The chance for teamwork and collaboration! You will work closely with a team of advocates and organizers, allowing you to build connections and learn from other young people changing the city! 
  • The opportunity to participate in organizing workshops and community bonding events designed to enhance your skills and foster a sense of community among team members.
  • Practical experience in organizing programs, events, and policy initiatives in Philadelphia!

For the first half of the cohort's year join us for field trips and more, learning about Philly's rich organizing history! For the second, begin working on a project of your choosing with all of UrbEd's resources that makes our city better!
